Short post today. Several people requested photos of the group, so this is one of everyone, minus myself who's taking the photo. From left to right:

Back Row-
Professor David Hernandez- Professor at Notre Dame and Lead Researcher and Organizer of the Project
Chris- Undergraduate at ND, working on shells
Giacomo- Pottery Specialist from Italy
Alexandra (in the way back)- Small Finds Specialist from Hungary
Anna (in the green)- Artist responsilbe for detailing all the finds
Illear (pronounced ill-ear)- Local Albanian workman
Mirgen (aka Genni)- Local Albanian specialist working on tiles

Middle Row-
Anna (in the shorts)- Conservation specialist from Germany
Elena (in the green in front of Giacomo)- Coin Specialist from Italy
Erin- PHd student at UC Berkeley working on Marble
Michael- Conservation Specialist from the Netherlands

Front Row-
Gloria- Pottery Specialist from Italy
Nadia- Pottery Specialist from Italy
Tania- Glass specialist from Italy
Karilyn- Grad student from ND, working on shells

A smaller team than most years, but it's the final stages of the project and we're all studying material instead of unearthing it. People start leaving on Wednesday and then I leave Saturday afternoon from Albania, so this is the last hurrah at Butrint.

  1. What a bright, friendly-looking bunch! And what a wonderful opportunity to see how the "big picture" of Butrint's 2700 year legacy will be painted. An experience like this beats book learning any day! Enjoy!
